PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Police in Missouri have arrested an Oregon fugitive who has been on the run since 2006 for vehicular assault, Portland police said.
Officers with the Nevada Police Department arrested Douglas Price, 30, on June 30.
Price was booked into the Vernon County Sheriff's Office Jail and is awaiting extradition to Oregon.
The city of Nevada is located in southwest Missouri.
Detectives told FOX 12 the investigation stared on Aug. 27, 2006, when Portland police officers responded to the report of a serious traffic crash at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Sandy Boulevard.
Price was speeding down Northeast Sandy when he crashed his 1999 Ford Mustang into a Radio Cab driven by Michael Jennings, police said.
Price's car then rolled and two passengers were ejected, investigators noted.
Portland Fire & Rescue personnel extracted Price and another passenger from the vehicle.
All four occupants of the Mustang suffered critical injuries, including burn injuries, after the car caught fire.
Jennings was also seriously hurt.
On Oct. 24, 2007, a Multnomah County circuit judge issued a warrant for Price's arrest in connection with the crash.
Officers attempted to locate Price and his wife, Andrea, but they disappeared from the area, detectives said.
For the past 4 1/2 years, a Portland Police Bureau detective assigned to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Portland has been working to locate Price and arrest him, police said.
In 2012, an anonymous tip was received by Crime Stoppers of Oregon indicating that Price might be living in Missouri.
Investigators began focusing research efforts in Missouri, which led them to Nevada, MO.
Investigators discovered that Price had been living under the name "Josh Gibson" for several years and may have been working at a coffee shop, police said.
Investigators learned that Andrea Price's mother, Katherine Johnston, opened a coffee shop called "Take a Break Java Den" in Nevada, MO, and Andrea Price had been working at Walmart, detectives said.
Portland police worked with Nevada police to exchange information and confirm Price's identity in Missouri, which allowed Nevada police to arrest him on Friday.
Andrea Price and Katherine Johnston were also arrested and face local charges in Missouri for helping Douglas Price hide from the law, police said.
