GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -
A dog was rescued from the steep hills of a rock quarry in Gresham and has been reunited with her owner.
The Oregon Humane Society coordinated with quarry workers to get the dog out of Knife River Quarry located on Northwest Eastwood Avenue.
FOX 12 learned the dog's name is Daisy.
The dog's owner, Tammie Johnson, said the pit bull mix went missing about a week ago.
"I was just really glad it was really her," she said. "When I saw her, it was like, 'Oh, that's my dog!''
At first, quarry workers would not let crews in to get the dog. They said the land is federally protected and also cited safety issues.
The Humane Society gave the quarry workers a trap baited with food, hoping to lure Daisy in.
Eventually, a firefighter was lowered down the cliff with a crane and managed to coax Daisy over to carry her back up.
Johnson said Daisy is very special to her. She acquired the dog when her daughter left to serve in Iraq.
