SANDY, OR (KPTV) -
Some sticky-fingered thieves dealt a blow to a fundraising effort in Sandy.
Last week, thieves broke into a fireworks stand being hosted by the Sandy High Choir at the Fred Meyer in Sandy.
The choir was selling fireworks to raise money for a trip to New York to sing with a professional choral director and orchestra.
Now, because of the theft, the group is out $1,500. That equals one student's trip to the Big Apple.
"They knew what they wanted. They wanted the bigger stuff, the more
expensive, and I'm thinking they want to sell it on Craigslist or
something and make a quick profit or something," said choir director
Bruce Scarth.
