ST. HELENS, OR (KPTV) -
A 29-year old Scappoose man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle while attempting to elude police officers along Highway 30.
Oregon State Police said Senior Trooper Robin May attempted to stop a 2008 Suzuki northbound on Highway 30 near milepost 26 for a lane change violation Wednesday afternoon.
The motorcycle's operator failed to stop and sped up to speeds over 135 mph. As the motorcycle traveled through St. Helens, officers from Columbia County Sheriff's Office and St. Helens Police Department joined Oregon State Police in pursuit of the motorcycle.
North of Columbia City, the Suzuki motorcycle turned west onto Canaan Road and about 1.5 miles later, lost control on a curve and went down an embankment. The motorcycle's operator, Gary Kordosky Jr, age 29, from Scappoose, was not injured.
Kordosky was taken into custody and is being lodged in the Columbia County Jail for felony attempt to elude, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another person.
He is also being cited for no valid operator's license, exceeding the post speed limit in excess of 100 mph, improper lane changes, and switched vehicle license plate.
Oregon State Police would like to speak with any witnesses or people who felt endangered by the motorcycle's operation. Witnesses are asked to call (503) 397-0325 ext. 103 with any information.
