WILSONVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

A Wilsonville man has been charged with kidnapping, menacing, and unlawful use of a weapon after a standoff with authorities.

It started around 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Center Park Apartments on SW Parkway Court.

A woman called 911 to report a domestic disturbance and told dispatchers that her husband had armed himself with a loaded handgun.

Wilsonville police and Clackamas County deputies went to the address after learning that the woman wasn't being allowed to leave the apartment.

Authorities evacuated the area and were eventually joined by SWAT negotiators.

They got the woman out of the apartment at about 11:30 p.m.

Authorities said about an hour later, they used tear gas and a Taser to subdue the suspect.

The man has been identified as 40-year-old Andrew Firkins.

He's being held at the Clackamas County Jail.
