ONALASKA, WA (KPTV) -
A Washington school bus driver convicted of assaulting several teenagers told a Lewis County judge that drinking too much caffeine affected his behavior when he committed the crimes.
According to prosecutors, Kenneth Sands went on a lewd rampage during a volleyball game in Onalaska last fall. Witnesses said Sands groped several teenagers and two women.
In May, Sands pleaded guilty to five misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation, according to court documents.
During his sentencing Wednesday, the judge ordered Sands to serve five months in jail.
The rest of the five-year sentence will be suspended.
Sands told the court that he regretted his actions, and blamed excessive caffeine consumption for sending him into a "psychotic episode."
