PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

As part of a summer internship, some hardworking Portland teens got a little help dressing for success on Friday.

The city of Portland and Multnomah County are partnering with SummerWorks, a program that helps young people get summer jobs and internships. Nearly 100 will work with the city and 50 will work with the county.

For one teen, the internship is especially important because her mom recently lost her job.

"It was kind of hard for her and stressful for me too," said De'ontria McFerson. "I really want to help her, so she can stop stressing."

As part of the program, McFerson and County Commissioner Loretta Smith went to Dress for Success to pick out items for her internship in Smith's office.

Dress for Success is a nonprofit that provides professional attire for women in the workforce.  The organization has become especially helpful to young people, who have some of the highest unemployment rates in the country.
