CANNON BEACH, OR (KPTV) -

A bicyclist was in critical condition Sunday morning after getting hit by a car on Highway 101 south of Cannon Beach.

Oregon State Police say Christeen Osborn, 35, from Hood River, was riding a road bicycle behind her husband just before 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Wanda Cortese, 78, drifted into the shoulder and hit Osborn from behind, troopers said.

Osborn ended up on the shoulder. Her husband went back to get her when she failed to catch up to where he was waiting.

Life Flight took Osborn to the hospital with critical injuries. She was wearing a helmet.

Cortese and her passenger were not hurt.

Investigators shut down traffic to one lane for four hours.

Troopers said there was no evidence that drugs or alcohol caused the crash.

They could still decide to charge Cortese with a crime.

Oregon State Police are investigating.
