Craigslist animal abuse investigation

Posted: Updated:
MARION COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Pets advertised on Craigslist as "free to a good home" might be ending up in the hands of people who want to harm them instead.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating disturbing reports of animal cruelty stemming from those types of Craigslist ads.  They say they've gotten several calls about people responding to the ads, then using the animals for target practice and bragging about it on Facebook.

This is an ongoing investigation, and the sheriff's office is asking for any information or photos you might have showing the injured animals or the abuse itself.

You can call the anonymous tip line at 503-540-8079 or email Deputy Mark Ferron at Mferron@co.marion.or.us.
