PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A traveler passing through PDX is accused of packing a loaded gun and trying to hide it in the airport lobby.

Soren Johnson, 69, of Eagle Point is charged with reckless endangering.

TSA workers at the Portland International Airport said he approached them at the security checkpoint, seeking advice on what to do with his gun on June 24.

They told him to go to the airline ticket counter, but investigators said he took a detour instead.

Employees reported seeing the man put the gun inside a planter box across from the ticket counters in the airport's public lobby.

TSA workers assisted police in tracking Johnson down as he was going through the north security checkpoint to get on his flight.

Officers then found the loaded gun in the planter box.

Johnson told officers he planned to retrieve his gun when he returned to the airport after his trip, according to police.
