PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The recent warm weather in the Pacific Northwest has prompted the Oregon Department of Forestry to announce that all of its districts in northwest Oregon will officially enter wildfire season on Wednesday, July 11.
Local forestry officials said they watch the weather forecast closely, and take extra precautions when necessary.
"We want to get out in front of the situation, since fire danger is increasing," West Oregon District Forester Mike Totey said.
According to Department of Forestry officials, the biggest effect will be on industrial forest operators. Logging operations will be required to have a fire watch present after work ends for the day, officials said.
If the region sees additional warm and dry weather, additional restrictions may be placed on recreational forest users.
