Car dealership damaged in fire

SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Oily rags sparked a two-alarm fire that severely damaged a Salem car dealership, according to investigators.

At about 4:15 a.m., a witness called 911 after seeing smoke and flames coming from the business in the 2700 block of 25th Street Southeast in Salem. When the first fire crew got to the scene, they immediately called for a second alarm. Firefighters quickly got control of the flames and started an investigation. They believe the fire started in the repair garage, where some oily rags were left near a heat source. Investigators are still working to estimate the cost of the damage.

One firefighter was hurt during the fire and was checked out at the scene by medics.
