TALBOT, OR (KPTV) -
A train went off the tracks in rural Marion County, dropping a massive stack of logs all over the road.
It happened at 5 p.m. Wednesday near Talbot, about 18 miles south of Salem.
The cause of the derailment isn't yet known.
Parts of Marlatt Road were completely blocked by the logs.
A total of eight cars from the Portland & Western Railroad train derailed in all, with several of them flipping over onto the road and the tracks.
"I looked to the north here and I see the train crossing the road and I noticed the cars are rocking back and forth real good and I said, man, that's not normal," said witness Nathan Lindholm. "Right about that time one went over and then it was just like dominoes."
Only two people were onboard the train, the conductor and the engineer, and neither of them were hurt.
No cars were stopped at the crossing at the time of the accident.
The cleanup process is expected to last until at least Friday.
