Don Kidrick
WILSONVILLE, OR (KPTV) -
A Salem man accused of stealing three large steel sewer grates also had methamphetamine in his truck, according to police.
Don Kidrick, 50, was arrested Wednesday at a rest area off Interstate 5 near Wilsonville.
A trooper spotted a truck trying to speed away from the rest stop at 4:45 p.m.
A UPS driver told the trooper that the pickup's driver was messing around with steel grates in the area.
The trooper said he tried to stop Kidrick's truck, but the suspect drove the wrong way through the front part of the rest area and tried to hide between two parked commercial trucks.
The trooper said Kidrick tossed a methamphetamine pipe under the truck, but it rolled right out into sight of the trooper.
Kidrick had three large metal grates in his truck, according to police, that are valued at $500 each.
A search of the pickup's interior also turned up a small amount of methamphetamine.
Kidrick was taken to the Clackamas County Jail on a variety of charges, including theft, possession of methamphetamine and offensive littering.
