PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A historic building in downtown Portland is now home to a unique restaurant.
The Picnic House on Southwest Salmon Street between Park and Broadway is in the original Heathman Hotel lobby space built in 1926.
Restaurant owners Aaron and Jessica Grimmer have turned the area into a lunch and dinner spot with a full bar.
They serve homemade soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts that can be eaten in or taken out in a picnic basket.
FOX 12 recently received a tour of the new space.
"We discovered it was all covered up. We broke down the walls, uncovered the floors. The original tile, the original wood, we restored it. We wanted to create something people were able to enjoy," Jessica Grimmer said.
The Grimmers also own the downtown dessert spot Pudding on the Rice, which is also near the Park Blocks.
