Portland plans to start back up a canceled cat-trapping program to reduce the stray and feral cat population.
The trap-neuter-return program was established last fall, but then was stopped a few months ago after a trapped cat died due to a volunteer forgetting to check the trap that the cat was in.
Animal Services says that after new safety rules are put in place and a new coordinator is hired for the program, trap-neuter-return will restart.
The traps will be set mainly in low-income apartment buildings and mobile home parks.
