PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Shots were fired near a busy Portland park Thursday afternoon, forcing a nearby community center into lockdown.
It happened just after 4 p.m. at the corner of North Rosa Parks Way and Borthwick Avenue near Peninsula Park.
Police believe two men fired the shots at two other men on the street. All four suspects took off and remain on the loose.
"We just heard like 10 to 12 gunshots," said Juan Gonzalez, who was at home with his kids when he heard gunfire right outside his apartment.
No one was hurt, according to officers.
Roads were closed in the area for the investigation. The swimming pool at nearby Peninsula Park was also put into lockdown.
Staff members said they evacuated about 50 children from the swimming pool to safety inside the building.
A group of people who were inside the community center gym playing basketball were searched and eventually allowed to leave after the lockdown ended.
"It's a real shock things happen like this," said David Hughes, who lives nearby. "It's unfortunate that things like this happen at a public park. There are a lot of families, a lot of kids and a lot of sports out here for the kids."
Police continue to investigate.
