The owner of a barge that leaked oil into the Columbia River for months has pleaded guilty to criminal charges.
Bret Simpson pleaded guilty to Clean Water Act violations and admits he knew there was oil in the barge called Davy Crockett at the same time he hired workers to cut it up for scrap.
Simpson is charged with failing to report an oil spill and illegally putting oil into the Columbia River near Camas.
The US Coast Guard spent eight months and $20 million working to clean up the spill and remove the barge from the river.
