BURIEN, WA (AP) -

According to a video clip released by authorities in Washington state, a survivalist who killed his wife, teen daughter and himself, blamed boredom for his troubles.

The video was released by the King County Sheriff's Office.

Peter Keller said in the recording that he was freaked out because he has to pay bills, live as a civilian and go to work. He said robbing banks would be "exciting."

Keller shot his wife, Lynnette, and his 18-year-old daughter, Kaylene, at their home in North Bend, east of Seattle, in April. He set canisters of gasoline on the kitchen stove, turned it on. He then headed to a fortified, camouflaged bunker in a rugged area he had spent the past eight years building.

Investigators found tens of thousands of dollars in the bunker near Rattlesnake Ridge.

Lynnettee's family announced Thursday that they'll direct the money to a scholarship fund for women who attend DigiPen Institute of Technology in Redmond. They say Kaylene had hoped to study video game design there.
