ESTACADA, OR (KPTV) -
A man nearly drowned after jumping 50 feet off a bridge into Estacada Lake.
Robert French, 49, jumped off the Highway 211 bridge at 5:45 p.m. Friday, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses said he had been drinking and threw an inner tube into the water before he leapt off the bridge.
The man was face down in the water for two minutes before he was pulled to shore.
A deputy arrived at the scene and started CPR because French was not breathing and didn't have a pulse. After several chest compressions he began breathing again.
Estacada firefighters then took over CPR.
French was taken to the boat ramp and then to Oregon Health and Science University on Life Flight.
He was breathing on his own and able to talk to rescue crews by that point.
