Troutdale police arrested three teens accused in a drive-by paintball shooting spree.
Officers responded Saturday night to reports of suspects shooting at random people from a moving car.
They were called out to the area of Southeast Stark Street and Evans at just after 11 p.m. Police say nine random victims were shot at while in their front yards. One person sustained a back injury after getting hit.
"It was swollen around the edges of it but right after it was just a purple ring," said 15-year-old Riley York. His friend was shot in the back with the paintball.
"This Honda comes past and pops off a couple of rounds," he said. "One hits the garage and the other hits my friend in the back."
Police said two people were also shot while leaving a restaurant at Troutdale Road and Stark. A paintball hit one of them in the arm.
Police said they stopped the suspect's car near that restaurant within minutes of the first 911 call. Officers arrested three teens and confiscated a paintball gun and various accessories.
The arrested are: Daniel Schmitt, 18, of Gresham, Alexander Penner, 18, of Portland and a 17 year old boy. They face a number of charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangering and criminal mischief.
York is said he is lucky his friend wasn't seriously hurt.
"I don't think they realized that if they hit us in the face it would have been really bad."
The teens reportedly told police they found the paintball gun in the garage of a home they were house-sitting in Troutdale.
