Salem Police said they are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was killed while crossing Mission Street at the intersection with Hawthorne Avenue in Salem Monday evening.
Preliminary information suggests the pedestrian was crossing Mission Street at the intersection with Hawthorne Avenue within a marked crosswalk and was crossing from the south side of the roadway.
An eastbound truck struck the pedestrian, who sustained significant injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
