PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
State troopers and Portland police arrested a man on Thursday morning after he led officers on a high-speed motorcycle chase that started in Hood River and ended on Highway 26 in southwest Portland, Oregon State Police said.
It all started at 9:07 a.m. when OSP Northern Command Center dispatch was notified by Hood River County dispatch that a motorcyclist was attempting to elude a Hood River police officer at speeds near 135 mph westbound on I-84, investigators told FOX 12.
The officer attempted to stop the driver, but he wouldn't pull over, OSP said.
OSP troopers headed east to the Columbia River Gorge area to assist, but before they were in position, they were advised at 9:17 a.m. that the officer was terminating the pursuit at the Hood River/Multnomah County line.
At about 9:25 a.m., an OSP trooper spotted a motorcycle matching the description heading westbound on I-84 near Corbett.
Troopers attempted to stop the motorcycle, but it failed to yield and sped through heavy traffic, officers said.
OSP terminated the pursuit at 9:37 a.m.
Six minutes later, a Portland police officer aware of the previous incident saw a motorcycle matching the description at the westbound on ramp to Highway 26 from Interstate 405.
The officer stopped the 2003 Yamaha motorcycle near Sylvan after detecting it going 90 mph in a 50 mph speed zone, investigators said.
OSP troopers later arrived and arrested the driver.
Authorities have not yet released his name or the charges he may face.
