PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man caught by U.S. Marshals in Seattle is accused of murdering a woman in southeast Portland.

Mark Beebout, 39, was arrested in Seattle on Thursday.

The investigation started on July 10. Police were called to Southeast 14th and Belmont Street on the report of a woman's body found in an apartment complex. A medical examiner later determined someone killed her.

Beebout was previously arrested in May in Multnomah County and charged with failing to register as a sex offender.

The victim's identity is still not known. Investigators said she's in her 30s.

Detectives have been in contact with the family of the named tenant where the body was located, but have not been able to confirm if that's the victim.

Investigators said the victim and the suspect knew each other. When Beebout was arrested, he had the woman's dog with him.

The victim's car is still missing. It is a red 1999 Subaru Legacy with Oregon license plates, 859 BJQ.

If you know anything about that car or this case, call (503) 823-0696.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward in this case.
