PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A 13-year-old girl is recovering this morning after she almost drowned in a public pool.
Lifeguards pulled the girl out of the water at Wilson Pool in Southwest Portland on Thursday afternoon.
One guard jumped into the water and pulled the girl to the surface. Four other lifeguards helped get her on the deck where they opened her airway and that is when she started coughing up water and breathing.
"Basically we saw them pull the girl out of the pool and place her on a wooden stretcher," said witness Kate Williams.
Emergency crews took the teen to OHSU. She was awake and talking by the time they arrived.
There's no word on her condition this morning.
