ASTORIA, OR (KPTV) -

A hiker was rescued Saturday after falling 100 feet down a ravine south of Mount Rainier near Tatoosh Lake in Washington.

Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a report saying a hiker had fallen, and according to his hiking companion, was bleeding, unable to walk, wet and lying in snow.

The Coast Guard notified an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter, who responded after another mission. The crew located both hikers and sent rescue swimmers down with hypothermia treatment packs and other medical equipment.

The injured hiker was handed over to EMS in Olympia, and at last report had a broken arm, shoulder and possible spinal injuries, but is in stable condition.
