Multnomah Falls, OR (KPTV) -
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said a man who was reported missing by his girlfriend near Multnomah Falls on Saturday night was found on the main trail early Sunday morning.
Heather Kelly of Wilsonville called police to report that her boyfriend, Steven Page, had not returned from a hike up the main trail at Multnomah Falls late Saturday night.
The two decided to drive to Multnomah Falls earlier in the evening and arrived around 8 p.m. They had no intention of hiking, and had never seen the Falls before. However, while looking at the falls from the Multnomah Falls Lodge, Page decided to leave for an unplanned hike on the main trail alone.
After two hours of waiting, Kelly called the police because of her concern that her boyfriend hadn't returned. Page was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and boots, and had no survival equipment with him.
Search crews from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office were deployed on trails at about 2 a.m. and at about 2:35 a.m., one of the Multnomah County Search and Rescue teams located Page walking down the main trail.
Page told the searchers he was having a difficult time finding the trail due to the darkness. He was located uninjured and escorted the rest of the way down the trail to the Multnomah Falls Lodge.
