A dog was rescued after falling over an embankment in the Mt. St. Helens area.
It happened at 8:30 Monday morning. A Colorado woman was hiking with her two dogs, when they both slid down an embankment. The owner was able to rescue one of the dogs, but the other one, a Bernese Mountain dog, slipped down a 150-foot cliff.
The U.S. Forest Service, Skamania County Sheriff Deputies and North County EMS worked together to utilize a two-rope raising system to lower five rescue personnel and the owner to the dog. The dog was hooked to the rope system and then walked up the mountain to safety.
The dog was not hurt and left with its owner.
