PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Massive pieces of steel are being moved into place for the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project.
Deliveries of 64 girders are now under way in the south waterfront area.
Each girder weighs up to 46 tons, so they are delivered one at a time.
Crews lift them off a truck and place them onto concrete supports.

The girders will be delivered in three phases over a 10-week period.
They will be used to support the decking that will carry the light rail over and under roadways in the area.
The Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project is scheduled to open in September 2015.
