A man camping out at Portland's City Hall and refusing to eat has set a date for the end of his hunger strike.

Cameron Whitten is ready to eat solid food again Thursday morning.

He is ending his hunger strike with a press conference outside city hall at 10 a.m.

His demonstration downtown began on June 2.

He said his goal was to bring more visibility to issues surrounding homelessness and foreclosures.

In a press release, Whitten claimed "victory" from his hunger strike.

Whitten has been actively involved in the Occupy Portland movement. He was arrested at least twice during Occupy events.

During his City Hall hunger strike, Whitten's weight fell from about 194 pounds to 159 pounds.

His first bite of solid food on Thursday will be a vegan item.
