Inmate accidentally released from jail is back in custody

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An inmate who was accidentally released from a Multnomah County Jail is back in custody.

Stephen Reed surrendered to a Multnomah County Sheriff's Office warrant strike team at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

He was in northeast Portland.

The Oregon Department of Corrections accidentally released Reed from jail on Monday after he appeared in court for pending charges of possession of cocaine.

He was first taken into custody on May 2 on the charge of delivering heroin.

An anonymous caller informed the department early Wednesday morning that Reed had been released.

His earliest release date is June 22, 2013.
