NEWPORT, OR (KPTV) -
Visitors and residents of Agate Beach have one more day than expected to behold the large reminder of the horrific natural disaster that hit Japan last year, as the date to begin removal of the tsunami dock has changed to Aug 1.
The exact time of the removal depends on tides and equipment setup but is planned to begin in the afternoon.
Ballard Diving and Salvage, a Vancouver company, has the contract to remove the 66-foot-long dock, which requires the workers to cut and transfer pieces of the dock to the Portland area for recycling and proper demolition.
