Safeway bagging contest kicks off fundraising campaign for MDA

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A local Safeway store kicked off a fundraiser in a fun way for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Fox 12's Julie Grauert competed in a bagging contest against the regional director of the MDA Friday at the Safeway store on Southeast 28th and Hawthorne.

Grauert didn't win, but the event did help start a major fundraising campaign for a great cause.

The money that's raised will go toward research, care and the MDA summer camp.

Grauert is a counselor for the annual camp, where kids get to swim, ride horses and perform in a talent show.
