Two days after FBI agents raided homes in North and Northeast Portland, a political activists group is calling the investigation "a political witch hunt."
The FBI served search warrants at three homes early Wednesday at addresses on NE 31st Avenue, NE Eighth Avenue and North Greenwich Avenue. A spokeswoman couldn't reveal details on what or who agents were searching for, as the investigation is ongoing.
However, a group called the Committee Against Political Repression claims that several local activists were targeted and anarchist materials seized.
"People are being targeted based on their political beliefs," said activist Tabatha Millican. "We know this because specifically in the search warrants they're listing anarchist literature, black clothes and computers."
Millican said dozens of activist groups across the Northwest have joined together to oppose the recent raids, including activists with various Occupy movements.
Fox 12 has not been able to look at the search warrants because they're still sealed. The FBI cannot comment on any of the claims of what was seized on Wednesday. A spokeswoman has said the raids were part of an "ongoing violent crime" investigation.
No arrests have been made, according to a spokeswoman.
