PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The suspect in a downtown crime spree was taken to jail Monday and booked on charges of robbery and failing to perform the duties of a driver.
James Badgley, 29, was arrested Monday after he crashed a stolen van into a pond off Marine Drive, according to police.
Around 7 a.m., police said the man walked into the downtown Portland MAC Club on Salmon Street and said there were people with weapons down the street.
Athletic club workers were concerned about the man so they called police.
Officers said the man then walked to a business on Main Street and smashed out windows there for an unknown reason.
A Portland police spokesman said the suspect then carjacked a Chevy van at knifepoint a couple blocks away and started to drive away.
Once he reached Southwest Fourth Avenue and Columbia Street, he struck a bicyclist, police said. The bicyclist did not suffer any significant injuries. A second bicyclist was also nearly hit.
The Chevy van with a Lyon's Beverage Service logo was later spotted in north Portland, weaving in and out of traffic and speeding, and then finally found crashed in a pond off Marine Drive and 223rd Avenue.
Air 12 showed officers making an arrest near the scene of the partially submerged van.
Badgley is in jail on $252,500 bail.
