Two men were hurt when their shotgun accidentally went off near Silverton.
Deputies said Antonio Barocio, 26, and Pedro Alvarez-Valdovinos, 23, were target shooting on Crooked Finger Road east of Silverton on Friday night.
They were taking turns firing a 12-gauge shotgun at a target.
Each man fired two rounds and thought the gun was empty.
As they walked back to their car, the shotgun fired into the ground. The birdshot from the round ricocheted off the ground and hit both men in their legs.
They went to a Silverton hospital for treatment.
Investigators said Barocio was carrying the gun when it went off. Alvarez-Valdovinos declined to file any charges against his friend.
Deputies said both men gave the same description of the events that led to the gun going off. They also had a number of targets in their car that showed signs of being used for practice.
The men were treated and released from the hospital.
