Mark Beebout
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A registered sex offender accused of killing a woman inside her Southeast Portland apartment went before a judge on Tuesday.
Mark Beebout faces charges including murder, theft, tampering with evidence, credit card fraud and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Nikayla Powell invited Beebout to stay with her after meeting him through a volunteer program that helps the homeless, police said.
Investigators found the victim's body on July 10.
U.S. Marshals later arrested Beebout in Seattle.
He is being held without bail and is due back in court next week.
