Oregon DREAM activists are fighting to prevent a young Latino from being deported.
Jaime Limon of Oregon DREAM says 20-year-old Jose Alonso is an undocumented immigrant who came to the United States when he was 8 years old. Recently, police arrested Alonso after spotting him playing with a toy gun outside his home. Although Alonso isn't facing charges in connection with the incident, he has been put on an immigration hold.
Limon claims that Alonso shouldn't be deported under the terms of President Barack Obama's DREAM Act.
DREAM activists and Alonso's family held a rally Tuesday outside the downtown Portland immigration building. They encouraged others to sign a petition urging officials to allow Alonso to stay in the U.S.
