HAZEL DELL, WA (KPTV) -
Thieves ransacked a Hazel Dell nonprofit organization, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
It happened Monday night at the XChange Recovery Center on Highway 99. It's a thrift store where profits go toward helping people with addictions.
Someone broke into 10 offices, stole a flat-screen TV and took items from the store. Ironically, the ministry believes the thief may be a member of the population they are trying to serve.
"Hopefully, the people who broke into this building will someday find their way here for help," said Vicky Smith, one of the founders of the nonprofit.
"I pray for them," said Ashley Iverson, a mentor who works with addicted youth. "I'm angry about it, but I pray for them because that's what you're supposed to do and hopefully they'll learn a lesson from this too."
The Clark County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
