KEIZER, OR (KPTV) -

A chase left a Keizer police officer hurt Tuesday afternoon.

It happened Tuesday around 4 p.m. when officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle.

Officers found 28-year-old Sean Cody Bennett stopped in traffic on Ulali Drive, waiting to turn onto Chemawa Road. One of the officers pulled up beside him, while another stayed behind.

Bennett immediately redirected the car out of his lane, ramming the officer beside him and headed for the patrol motorcycle behind him, police said.

Other officers then started chasing after the green Honda Accord. Bennett was finally stopped and arrested on Indian School Road, authorities said.

Bennett has a suspended driver's license and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for parole violation.

The injured officer, Eric Jefferson, was transported to Salem Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Bennett has been booked into the Marion County Correctional Facility.
