SHERWOOD, OR (KPTV) -

A Sherwood woman was found guilty except for insanity Wednesday in the strangling of her 12-year-old daughter.

The judge sentenced Kristina Buckley to be committed to the Oregon State Hospital indefinitely for the June of 2011 killing.

Buckley told officers at the family's Sherwood home that she killed her daughter to protect her from pedophiles, prosecutors said.

Authorities said Buckley admitted trying to kill herself, and that she had self-inflicted wounds, but she told them she wasn't strong enough to do it or to kill her husband.

According to police, Buckley told them, "I should have hopped in the car and taken both of us and jumped off a bridge. Poor, poor girl."

Buckley was charged - and convicted - of one count of aggravated murder.
