The Portland Police Bureau adopted some policy changes to help breastfeeding moms working on the force.
When returning from maternity leave, officers will be able to spend two weeks working a desk job to help with the transition.
The bureau will also have to provide private rooms to allow women to pump breast milk.
Those female officers may also choose to wear a different kind of bulletproof vest that some say is more comfortable. However, officers will have to pay for the alternate vest.
All officers who have given birth within the last 18 months can take advantage of the new changes. They just have to notify the bureau in writing.
