PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
Two Timbers players made a trip to the Providence Child Center Wednesday.
Midfielders Jack Jewsbury and Sal Zizzo visited children with chronic health conditions at the center. They even played a few soccer games with them.
Both players say it's important to try and make a difference in the community.
"They're great. It's good to go into the community and meet them," Zizzo said. "They're the real heroes. You can tell just by a little movement that they're having a great time in there."
Jewsbury called it "a great day."
"It was exciting to get out here and interact with the kids and put a smile on their face," he said.
This week is sports extravaganza week for Camp P.L.A.Y. It's a special program designed to provide the kids with typical childhood experiences.
