PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
A man accused of impersonating a decorated military veteran and a U.S. Marshal is guilty of criminal impersonation.
A judge delivered that verdict Thursday in the case of Cyrus Diesel Toretto.
Prosecutors dropped a second count of the same charge against him.
Investigators said the charges went back to July 2011. That's when Toretto went drinking with an off-duty police officer and claimed he was a U.S. Marshal.
Investigators said he then made several other claims, including having been an Oregon State University football player, a gang investigator, a Delta Force soldier and a war veteran who earned a Purple Heart.
He was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to write apology letters to the VFW, American Legion and City of Cornelius.
He must also pay a number of fines.
