Portland police released a photo showing the teen suspect holding a gun.
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -
The teenager injured in a police shooting in Southeast Portland last month is expected to enter a plea Friday morning.
Juwan Blackmon, 17, is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police say he was the suspect who ran from a traffic stop after being spotted with a handgun.
The gun task force was watching an apartment on Southeast 148th as part of an investigation involving a federal case.
They say they spotted a man showing off a handgun before getting into a blue Honda with three other people.
Officers pulled the car over near 153rd and Division.
The driver and passenger got out and cooperated with police, investigators said. A police dog bit another passenger. But investigators say Blackmon didn't follow their commands and took off running.
A veteran officer shot the teen with one beanbag round. Another officer fired one bullet at Blackmon from his gun, police said. The bullet hit Blackmon in his right leg. He was taken to the hospital but later released and taken into custody.
While searching through the neighborhood, police say they did find two loaded handguns in the front yard of a home off southeast 153rd.
A grand jury will eventually look into the case once the investigation is done, police said.
