Heat-related combustion of dead plants may have caused SE Portland fire

Posted: Updated:
PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A fire started in a pile of dried-up plants outside a southeast Portland auto shop Monday morning.

Firefighters were called out at 10:45 a.m. to Womack AutoBody at 9831 S.E. Powell Blvd.

Investigators said the fire caused damage to the building's siding, but firefighters got it out before the fire spread inside.

Nobody was hurt.

It's not considered suspicious and investigators are looking at possible heat-related combustion of the dried-up plants as the cause.
