PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man seen removing his clothes while running through a southwest Portland neighborhood has been taken into custody by police.

Officers said he was high on drugs and running into businesses on the 7600 block of Southwest Barbur Boulevard screaming, "I need water, give me water."

An employee at a Volvo dealership gave him water, so he left. He may have then stolen a bicycle, according to police.

Earlier reports from investigators said he was running through yards and shedding his clothes in the area of Southwest 17th and Troy.

He was last spotted wearing no shirt.

At one point, he briefly ended up on the roof of the New York New York Pizza on Barbur Boulevard, according to police. Officers said he also hopped a number of fences in the area.

Police said they are waiting until he comes off the drugs before transporting him to jail. His name has not yet been released.
