Happy Valley murder suspect arrested in Beaverton

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A man who detectives said shot and killed his girlfriend's mother at a Happy Valley home was arrested at the Beaverton Transit Center on Tuesday.

Clackamas County deputies said Jason Hogan Jr. opened fire late Sunday night, wounding his girlfriend, Gina Perrone, and killing her mother, Norma Perrone.

Beaverton police said Hogan was taken into custody Tuesday morning at the Beaverton Transit Center, but they have not released any other details about the arrest. There were unconfirmed reports Monday night that Hogan had been spotted in the Aloha area.

U.S. marshals, Beaverton police and the Multnomah County Warrant Strike Team teamed up to arrest Hogan as he crossed over a footbridge at the transit center. He had a gun at the time of his arrest, deputies said.

Hogan and Gina Perrone had been in a long-term relationship and have a history of domestic violence, authorities said. They were recently living together, with Norma Perrone, at the Happy Valley home on Hobart Court.

Norma Perrone had worked for nearly 15 years at the downtown Portland law firm Davis Wright Tremain LLP, where she was a human resources coordinator.  Carole Bernick, partner in charge, said Norma Perrone made the workplace a community.

"She really was sort of the heart and soul of this office," Bernick said. "She was the person who organized potlucks when people had babies, or people had surgery, or when people had a death in a family - she was the one who sort of mobilized the troops. She was the one who organized the fun, the parties, the picnics, the events. She found ways to bring people together."
