Nearly a month after a man was hit and killed in a Salem crosswalk, the district attorney has decided not to file criminal charges.
Connor Jordon of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada was hit by a truck on July 16 at the intersection of Mission Street Southeast and Hawthorne Avenue Southeast.
Police said James Sinks was driving the truck and hit the man in a crosswalk.
Jordon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County District Attorney's Office reviews all death investigations of this nature.
In this case, the district attorney decided not to file criminal charges.
Salem police issued two citations to Sinks. They were for failing to obey a traffic control device and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Those traffic violations carry fines as penalties.
