VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A local man accused of threatening to kill a Washington legislative candidate has been arrested.

Clark County sheriff's deputies said Gary Owen admitted sending graphic and threatening emails to Eileen Qutub.

She is running for the 49th District seat.

Deputies said on July 31, she received an email from someone who was upset about getting a piece of election advertising from her.

Owen is accused of sending an email threatening to kill her in graphic detail and making sexual references.

On August 4, investigators said he sent a follow-up email threatening to kill her again if he received anything further from her campaign.

On Thursday, he was arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail on two counts of malicious harassment.
